300,00 SF Mixed-Use, 1,200 Space Parking Structure, 12 Story Hotel

(Named Queen City Quarter in 2022)

The Epicentre is the premier entertainment destination in downtown Charlotte, NC.   It is located adjacent to the primary CATS light rail station and the Spectrum Arena home of the Charlotte Hornets.  The project occupies a full city block, organized as a 4-story open air mall sitting atop a 4-story underground parking structure.  Emphasis was placed on creating inviting plazas and pedestrian streets to connect the city sidewalks and make the Epicentre a part of the city fabric. RAD’s design was able to plan for unknown tenants stacked vertically in complex configurations such as Movie Theater over Physicians Office over Bowling Alley.  The design accommodated utilities and delivery/ receiving areas for all future tenants.

RAD created an inviting and vibrant mixed-use attraction by bringing the outdoor pedestrian traffic flow through the center of the property. Connections were made linking the Uptown Overstreet Mall to the downtown Intermodal Light Rail Station making this property a hotspot for urban nightlife.
